On October 30, the 6th International Forum on New Power Systems and the 21st China Southern Power Grid International Technology Forum opened in Boao, under the theme "Co-building New Power Systems to Accelerate the Low-Carbon Energy Transition." The forum attracted experts and scholars from domestic and international energy and power regulatory authorities, upstream and downstream industry chain enterprises, industry associations, and research institutions.
Hosted by China Southern Power Grid, the forum focused on key technologies, policy mechanisms, market models, and industrial ecosystems for the construction of new power systems. It aimed to deepen comprehensive exchanges and cooperation, share the latest development achievements, explore pathways for new power system development, and jointly build a green, open, shared, and win-win global energy ecosystem.
During the forum, the Implementation Plan for the Construction of New Power Systems in Hainan Clean Energy Island, jointly formulated by the Hainan Provincial Government and China Southern Power Grid, was officially released. This plan lays the foundation for making Hainan a pilot and model province for new power system development, providing strong support for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone, the Clean Energy Island, and Smart Hainan.
The forum also unveiled eight latest achievements in new power system development, including the China Southern Power Grid White Paper on New Power System Development, the White Paper on Southern Power Market Construction, the Digital Transformation White Paper, and the Digital Grid Twin Platform. On October 31, ten sub-forums will be held, including "Building a New Ecosystem for Efficient Source-Grid-Load-Storage Interaction."
Vice Governor Yang Guoqiang and Qian Zhaoyang, Director and General Manager of China Southern Power Grid, attended and delivered speeches. Academician Li Licheng, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Honorary Chairman of the Expert Committee of China Southern Power Grid, gave a keynote speech.
