On the morning of October 28, 2021, the 3rd Boao New Power System International Forum with the theme of "Building a New Power System to Serve Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" was held at the Boao Forum for Asia International Conference Center.
More than 1,000 experts and scholars from home and abroad participated in the forum through a combination of online and offline methods to discuss key issues in the field of new power systems such as modern power grid planning and digital technology.
Xie Hailian, vice president of Hitachi ABB Power Grid China, said that a number of recent studies predict that the proportion of electricity consumption in the world's total energy demand will increase from the current 20% to more than 40% in 2025.
According to reports, in order to support the economic and social development of Hainan Free Trade Port and achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, China Southern Power Grid will accelerate the construction of a new power system in Hainan, and plans to invest 27 billion yuan during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period to upgrade the quality of Hainan Power Grid, start the construction of 500 thousand volt grid, and comprehensively build a safe, reliable, green, efficient and intelligent modern power grid, covering all aspects of power generation, transmission, transformation, distribution and use in the province, and explore the way for China to build a new power system. Among them, the Boao Dongyu Island Near-Zero Carbon Emission Demonstration Zone Project is listed as one of the typical demonstration projects of Hainan's new power system.
